Built on a former estate property in Fremont’s Mission District, The Abbey included 79 new homes, the preservation of 5.4-acres of gardens for public use, and the restoration of two 1920s-era homes. The new, high-density detached homes were carefully designed to respond to the modern lifestyle while complimenting the historic nature of the special setting. Appropriate proportions, historic detailing and rich materials made the new homes feel authentic in their surroundings. Inside, the new homes were designed for the modern lifestyle, with true ground floor living, charming mudrooms, generous master suites, and bonus third-story flex spaces with full bedroom suites. Robson Homes was awarded two Judges Special Awards for the historic restoration of the two historic mansions, The Best House and The Starr House, at the Pacific Coast Builder’s Conference 2021 Gold Nugget Awards.
